List Of Brands That Took Advantage Of #keepthechangebae Twitter Trend

If you do not understand what #KeepTheChangeBae is, and why it has been trending since last night, let us quickly bring you up to speed:

In summary, some kid named Ayodeji went on a ‘date’ with a lady named Ore. Turns out she wasn’t interested in a relationship and told him. The kid went on Twitter and started ranting that he took her out on a date, spent money and she still turned him down. Ore then dropped this tweet that we consider one of the greatest comebacks of all time.

She refunded him and asked him to keep the change. Everywhere scattered. Someone used the hashtag #KeepTheChangeBae, and the rest, as they say is history.

But here, starting with Wema bank (where the broke juvenile kid banks), we take a look at how brands joined the conversation and are flourishing with it.

1. Wema Bank

The “broke ass nigga” banks with Wema, but instead of joining the kid in taking the L, the purple bank jumped on the conversation and have been trending since. Whoever is managing the account, well done. Big well done for seeing the opportunities and milking every bit of it. Don’t overdo it though.

2. Quickteller

Payments platform – Quickteller facilitated the transaction and it was only right that they quickly jumped on it to sell their market.

3. Baton Nigeria

For those saying N3,800 is small money, Baton, makers of Nigeria’s finest toothpicks is here to tell you that it can give you a ONE YEAR supply of Baton Toothpicks, and still leave you with enough change.

4. Yudala

Yudala joined the party too.

5. Road Chef

Listed meals you can get for N3800 or less. Dope

6. Mobile Punch

One would think that Punch is too ‘big’ for this. But they joined in and it banged. New media rocks

7. The Nail Boutique

Foremost Lekki-located nail brand – The Nail Boutique is here to tell you that you can get pampered for as low as N3500 and #KeepTheChangeBae.

They also offered Ore a free Mani or Pedi session for ‘inspiring them’. Who said savagery being dope doesn’t pay?

8. HotelNowNow

For those who do not have a lot to spend on accommodation, there are rooms you can get for N3,800 or less at www.hotelnownow.com

9. PiggyBank

Only N50 and you have a Piggybank account. N3,800 is plenty sef. Dope!!

10. First Bank

Wema bank is not the only bank that means business. First Bank noticed the transaction was done from a Firstbank account and jumped on the trend.
They offered Ore N5,000 (which we think is small), welcomed her to the FirstGem family (whatever that is) and are encouraging people to get FirstMonie, for easy transactions. First Bank is enjoying every bit of the mileage this thing is getting them, and that is perfectly okay.

Other brands that joined the conversation include Boom Play, WakaGirl, BrownskinGirl, Shaunz Bar, Git NG Lottery, Utazi NG, and so on. Impressive that brands are jumping on these things. Well done Social Media Managers!!

He said that Alhaji Ibrahim Comassie, Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) was also nominated for the award. Other nominees for the award, which would hold on March 31, included Dr Mike Omotosho,Amb. Hussaini Coomasie, a veteran Nollywood actor, Ali Nuhu, Queen Chichi Mbagwu, traditional rulers and other philanthropists. Amafibe said the names were among the list of nominees made available by the organisers of the award, an NGO, Peace Ambassador Agency, that advocates and promotes peace and national unity in Nigeria.

He noted that Kano was “very strategic in the North, and its peace or otherwise can affect other states in the region in one way or the other.’’ The project director explained that the awards which cuts across over 20 categories, would be given to selected nominees for their contributions to peace building and development in the North, especially in recent times.

Amafibe explained that although there were a lot of patriotic men and women who have contributed meaningfully in the peace building project in the North, it was imperative to honour ‘outstanding’ ones. According to him, there are some Nigerians also listed for the awards, who are not from the North by birth. He, however, noted that they have contributed in one way or the other, in the spirit of a united Nigeria, toward the peace and development of the region. “You must not come from the Northern part of the country to be recognised for this honour. “If your investments or humanitarian works tell of you as an agent of peace are centred on the North, and you have the interest of the region at heart.”

Guaranteed Ways To Pass Your WAEC Exam In One Sitting

West African Examination Council (WAEC) is an
examination board that prepares and conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. This senior school certificate is the University entry examinations in West African countries. The participating countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Liberia.

WAEC is very important. As a matter of fact, it is the
first external examination that determines your admission status. You must not fail waec. So many things will go wrong if you fail waec. That’s why you should do everything within your ability to pass waec in one sitting.

For the last three consecutive years, about 60% of
students have failed these exams. However, with adequate preparations, students in West African countries can actually pass this examination. The tips on how to adequately prepare for the WAEC examination form the basis of discussion here below where they will be highlighted.

Tips for Passing WAEC Exams

1. Have a Decent Timetable for Your Studies.

The WAEC examinations are not the kind of exams that
students just get in and perform well. You must have a
decent timetable that outlines your reading schedule. This schedule should allocate adequate time for all your
subjects.

2. Don't Depend On Waec Expo

This is the reason why so many candidates fail waec. They depend on answers that will be sent to them on the waec examination day. Getting waec answers on the exam day is still very valid. You can get both waec theory and Objective answers in your inbox. However, they are not to be trusted. You can be a victim of wrong answers.

3. Have Confidence in Yourself

You should be very confident in yourself and believe that you will pass the exams. Though the exams are usually hard for students to pass, a confident student will easily pass the exams and proceed to the University. Therefore, students should exercise self confidence before and during the exams.

4. Don't Procrastinate

Later things. This is the top language of procrastinators. You need to start anything you need to start so as to pass waec. Do not delay or surrender.

5. Take Notes when you Study

During your allocated time for study, it is important to
take notes on some important points. These notes might help you when doing a final revision for the annual WAEC exams.

6. Don't Be Afraid of Some Subjects

Maths is difficult. This is the language many waec
candidates. Yours may not be mathematics. But make sure you kill any fear you have for any subject. They are all simple.

7. Revise Past Papers

While doing your revision, you should allocate good time revising the past papers. As a trend by the WAEC,
examination tests are drawn from previous papers. They only twist the questions to get a new examination.
Therefore, you should not ignore the past papers and
actually take it as a preparation strategy to revise them.
Read all the Examination Rules Before Exams Being a
regional examination body, WAEC has strict rules that
govern its examinations. You should thus read all the rules before getting into an exam room. Though the rules will be written in front of the question paper, some students fail to read them during examination period and thus show the importance of reading them prior to the exams.

8. Get Adequate Sleep and Eat Well

As the examination dates approaches, you should have
healthy meals and give yourself enough sleeping time. This is one of the preparation strategies that have been
ignored by students who opt for extending study hours
during the night. This could be the reason for the regular failure by students. Get this strategy right and sleep well.

9. Improve in your Writing

Your writing is the first thing examiners look at. Make
your writing very clear and simple. Write in a very simple
and understandable English.

10. Compose yourself and Properly Present your
Answer

You should plan to compose yourself during the
examination. Learn the right sitting postures for
examinations. And don’t be in a rush to answer questions during the exams.

11. And yes.. pray before and after your Exams.

The above mention tips should be followed by senior
school students who want to prepare adequately for their forthcoming West Africa Examination Council examination.

Senate Submits 5 Conditions For Peace With Buhari

The Senate has reacted to the setting up of a committee by the Federal Executive Council to settle the rift between it and the National Assembly with five conditions that must be met for peace to reign.

The Senate through a ranking senator (name withheld) who is close to the leadership of the senate identified five conditions for peace to reign between the executive and the legislative arm of government, Daily Trust reports.

He said for peace to prevail between the presidency and the senate, the trial of the senate president, Bukola Saraki should be discontinued forthwith.

“The trial of Saraki is central to the crisis because it is believed that they came up with it because he ‘violated’ the interest of the presidency and the party (APC) to emerge the senate president. If his trial is stopped, there would be peace,’’ he said.

He added that irrespective of the peace moves by the executive, the camps within the presidency must be united, otherwise they will continue to use the senate against each other.

“A camp in the presidency is using the senate against another. This is the second issue that must be addressed for peace to reign. Buhari should dissolve the camp, otherwise no serious progress would be made,” he added.

He also said, the head of government agencies including ministers must be made to respect senate resolutions. “If a resolution is passed, the executive doesn’t respect it, there is general contempt against us. This must stop,” he said.

He said there was urgent need for the president to engage the leadership of the APC for proper coordination of the party’s caucus at the senate.

“The president must be talking to the party for it to be talking to caucus. If the president is bringing anything to the senate, the party should be involved.

“The fifth one is that there is no personal communication between the senators and the president. There is need for this,” he said.

When Daily Trust contacted the spokesperson of the senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, he said: “You are just telling me now. I’m not aware of such committee and I don’t know its terms of reference.”

Another source disclosed that there are issues between the presidency and the two chambers of the National Assembly, not only the Senate.

“Frankly speaking, there are issues with both chambers. Yes, that of the Senate may be pronounced, but there are issues with the House as well. How can you increase the budget of the judiciary by N30bn without increasing that of the legislature? The lawmakers are not happy with this.

“Again, the president doesn’t see them as anything. He treats them with disdain, and it’s the fault of his aides. He doesn’t meet lawmakers privately to discuss issues, which wasn’t the case in the past. They’re only managing to work with him.

“There were instances that the president would travel to a place with the Senate President and the Speaker, but he would be distanced from meeting the National Assembly leaders. All these things may be small, but they’re important as far as their relationship is concerned. The House is only managing the relationship, while that of the Senate seems to go out of hand.

“As I speak with you, there are lawmakers that are not principal officers, but they have unfettered access to the Villa, while principal officers don’t. If anything comes up, those lawmakers that are just committee chairmen can’t do anything to defend the president.

“For me, the way out is for the president to open up and make himself accessible to the lawmakers. He should know that it’s not a one-man show. He should respect them the way they respect him,” the source said.

But another lawmaker said there are no serious issues between the House and the presidency but that the attitude of some heads of government agencies toward the lower chamber was unbecoming.

“There are no real issues that one can say are pronounced. The issues we have mostly have to do with heads of agencies. Sometime when we invite them, they don’t want to appear until we now summon them.

“As a parliament, we have powers to invite anybody to appear before us on an issue, but they give flimsy excuses here and there. That notwithstanding, we don’t have issues with the presidency currently.

“The real issues are in the Senate. In fact, at some point, the speaker was trying to mediate between the Senate and the presidency, that’s to tell you we don’t have issues with them. May be the presidency sensed that the suspension of Ndume may lead to other things, that is why they quickly swung into action,” the lawmaker said.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is to head the committee set up by the presidency to resolve the rift with the lawmakers.

Other members of the committee include all ministers who were former senators.

These are Chris Ngige (Labour), Udoma Udoma (Budget and National Planning), Heineken Lokpobiri (State, Agriculture), Hadi Sirika (State for Aviation) and Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs).

Other members are the Senior Special Assistants to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang (Senate) and Samaila Kawu (House of Representatives).

Members of the committee met at the vice president’s office after the cabinet meeting.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, told reporters that the cabinet expressed concern over the strained relationship between the executive and the Senate in particular.

He said: “The executive is also concerned that the relationship between the two arms of government is not as smooth as it is supposed to be.

“In any democracy, it is a continuous struggle for balancing between the executive and the legislature because each of them is a creature of the law.

“We must strive at all times to ensure that there is that balance, amity and smooth relationship.

“Just today (Wednesday) at the Federal Executive Council meeting, the issue was discussed and a committee is already working on ensuring that we resolve all these outstanding issues,” the minister said.

The Senate Tuesday put off the confirmation of 27 Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission for two weeks.

It took the decision to protest continued presence in office of the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, even though his nomination was rejected twice by the senate.

The upper chamber had also expressed displeasure at the refusal by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, to wear uniform.

The Senate had earlier this year called for the removal of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, following allegation of misappropriation of funds meant for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the northeast.

JAMB UTME Exams Hours Reduced To 2 Hours

What is the time/hours for JAMB UTME exam?

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Registrar/Chief Executive Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, today in Kaduna, during the opening ceremony of a strategic planning retreat on the monitoring, supervision and evaluation of 2017 UTME stated that candidates writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this year would spend two hours instead of three hours.

He said the reduction in exam time was in line with international best standards and practices where no candidate is kept in an examination such as UTME for more than two hours. In his words: “We are going to reduce the duration of the examination for this year’s UTME. You cannot keep children of this age for three hours. For their age, the maximum time you can keep them is two hours. So, we are considering the reduction in the time they spend because once it is more than two hours you can’t expect that they will retain their presence of mind.”

Oloyede added that out of 13 commercial banks and the Nigeria Postal Service that have signified interest in the sales of the admission forms, only nine have paid for the number of application documents they required in the first instance. In a related development, since JAMB started the sale of the 2017 UTME form, candidates have been finding it hard to complete their registration. Some have been complaining about difficulties in getting the pin to be used to register for the exam.

JAMB Adopts “Eight-Key Device” System For 2017 CBT Exam

In order to deal with the challenge of computer low level literacy of some candidates, especially with the phobia for the mouse, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has disclosed that it will adopt an “eight-key device” for the 2017 UTME.

Speaking during the Strategic Planning retreat on Supervision and Evaluation of 2017 UTME examinations the JAMB Registrar noted that in order to ensure equity and level playground for all candidates taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, the Board has designed a system that will allow candidates use only eight (cool keys without the use of the mouse.

All the candidates need to do is to press the letters A,B,C,D for responses (answers) to questions and keys P, N, S and R representing different functions as follows:
P = Previous question
N = Next question
S = Submit responses when candidate has finished examination
R = Reverse (do not intend to go further to submit again)

According to him, this new method will eradicate the challenge of low computer literacy and phobia for mouse by some candidates.

On the new arrangements for the visually impaired candidates, the JAMB Registrar said Digital Bridge Institute in partnership with the board has agreed to set up three dedicated centres in Abuja, Lagos and Kano in 2018.

But for the 2017 UTME, board has reached an understanding with the association for the blind persons in Nigeria and blind students in Lagos that an abridged approach would be used for the 2017 UTME, whereby all prospective blind candidates would be invited to three centres in the country for special assessment in their subjects of choice and relevance to their desired courses and programmes.

EFCC Arrests 2 CBN Directors For Forex Manipulation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested two directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria for alleged forex manipulation and economic sabotage.

Impeccable sources at the EFCC told one of our correspondents on Wednesday that the directors were still in custody as of press time at 7.30pm.

It was learnt that the investigation into the CBN officials activities sent shockwaves round the apex bank.

The detective said the houses of the directors had been searched while incriminating evidence had been recovered.

A source at the EFCC, who wished to remain anonymous said, “We have arrested two directors of the CBN in connection with forex manipulation. We believe that it was the activities of these individuals that contributed to the dollar scarcity and the weakening of the naira.

“Ironically, immediately we started investigating these chaps a month ago, the CBN reeled out a new forex policy which sought to flood the market with excess dollar and strengthen the naira.

“Already, we have searched their houses and recovered some sensitive documents. We have reason to believe that they may not have acted alone. We expect to make more discoveries as investigations continue.”

When contacted, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, said no director of the apex bank had been arrested by the EFCC.

He said, “This is not true. No director of the bank (CBN) has been arrested by the EFCC. The current activities of the CBN in the forex market is a result of months of study, monitoring and planning to tackle the activities of black marketers.

“We are succeeding and Nigerians are happy with us. No amount of false rumours and concoctions to ridicule and sabotage the success we have achieved will make us lose our focus at this time.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC has dispatched letters to several aides and persons linked to Senate President Bukola Saraki for their alleged role in the N19bn illegally deducted from the N522bn Paris Club refund.

About N3.5bn out of the stolen N19bn was said to have been traced to Saraki and several persons close to him, an EFCC report had said.

A top source at the EFCC told one of our correspondents that letters had been dispatched to the indicted persons and some were billed to report at the EFCC office on Thursday (today).

A detective said, “I can confirm to you that letters have been dispatched to aides to the Senate President. Some will appear on Thursday (today) while others will appear on subsequent days depending on the outcome and pace of investigations.”

Some of the persons invited by the anti-graft agency included Saraki’s Deputy Chief of Staff and a former lawmaker, Gbenga Makanjuola; Obiora Amobi and Oladapo Joseph Idowu.

Others are Mr. Kolawole Shittu, and a former Managing Director of Saraki’s defunct bank, Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria, and current boss of Melrose General Services Limited, Mr. Robert Mbonu; and the Relationship Manager to the Senate President in Access Bank, Kathleen Erhimu.

Melrose General Services is one of the companies hired as consultants by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

The firm got N3.5bn as consultancy fees while other companies shared about N15.5bn.

When asked why Saraki was singled out for investigation, the source said, “No one is victimising the man. He is an easier target because he has no immunity unlike the governors most of whom still have immunity till 2019.

“The investigation is holistic and in due course everyone found culpable will face justice.”

Recall that the Federal Government had in December 2016 approved the sum of N522.74bn to be paid to the 36 states of the federation as part of the reimbursement for the over-deduction on the Paris Club loan from 1995 and 2002.

The EFCC had sometimes in January discovered that the Paris loan refunds were illegally routed through the account of the NGF by the CBN.

Upon receiving the funds, the NGF in an alleged connivance with Saraki, began remitting huge sums to private consultants who then laundered about N19bn.

The EFCC report sent to the Presidency states in part, “Suffice to apprise that all payments received by Melrose General Services Company from the NGF have hitherto been diverted directly via cash withdrawals and indirectly through transfers by Hon. Gbenga Peter Makanjuola, Kolawole Shittu and Oladapo Joseph Idowu who are principal aides of the Senate President.

“Furthermore, other payments from Melrose General Services Company have also been linked to companies that Dr. Bukola Saraki has interest in and carries out transactions with.

“This includes the sum of $183,000 which was transferred to Bhaska Devji Jewellers, Dubai, a company Dr. Bukola Saraki had repeatedly made payments to.

“Also, the sum of N200m was transferred to Wasp Networks Limited that subsequently transferred the sum of N170m to Xtract Energy Services Limited, a company that routinely made deposits into Dr. Saraki’s Access Bank US dollar Domiciliary account.

The reports concludes that a prima facie case of conspiracy to retain the proceeds of unlawful activities and money laundering contrary to Sections 15(3) and 18(9) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2004 can be established against the aforementioned suspects.

The Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, however, rubbished the report, adding that the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, was on a revenge mission having been rejected by the Senate two weeks ago.
