This Video of Br*ast Under a Microscope Will Blow Your Mind

Did you ever wonder what breast milk looked like under a microscope? Well, now you don’t have to wonder anymore, thanks to mom and artist Jansen Howard, you will now. Howard posted a video of her breast milk under a microscope on her Facebook a few days ago. It’s kind of the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

In her post, she wrote:

“You guys… this is SO COOL!!!!!!!! This is the living liquid gold we call breast milk in motion!!!! My dad is a blood microscopist and this is a single drop off my breast milk under his microscope!!!! It’s miraculous and it’s ALIVE tailored to my babies needs at this moment!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!”

I admit, all of the exclamation marks gave me a little bit of a headache, but it’s awesome enough to overlook. Breast milk is alive. It sort of sounds like something out of a strange ’80s horror flick, but it’s also something close to a miracle. I mean, it feeds your babies. Currently, more than 13,000 people have reacted to the video, over 2,000 people comments, and more than 1 million people have watched the video. That speaks volumes itself.

Sure, people love videos, but breast milk is also just fascinating–and it’s something that nature has created. So, you know, maybe show this video the next time someone tries to shame you for breastfeeding in public.

Also, Howard shared a video of formula under the microscope, which makes her point even more clear (that breast milk is utterly INTENSE). This is what formula looks like:

That being said, though, this doesn’t mean moms who don’t choose to breastfeed should be shamed either. Every mom’s choice is just as valid as the next. The moral of the story here: Support each other’s choices, while also reveling in nature’s beauty and mystery.
